You sure know about yoga but have you heard about the latest trend in the gym called Anti-Gravity Yoga?

Otherwise known as aerial yoga, anti-gravity yoga defies the laws of physics and fuses revolutionary techniques aimed at relieving compressed joints and aligning the body from head to toe. It is currently the leading method in the aerial yoga trend developed by Christopher Harrison, a former gymnast and dancer. Anti-gravity yoga provides a workout that allows stretching and strengthening without the danger of overstressing the joints or compressing the vertebrae which usually results from physically strenuous exercises.

A swath of silky fabric called the hammock plays a key role in the success and effectiveness of anti-gravity yoga. The hammock acts as your support system. The hammock allows you to learn to hang, and invert while suspended in the air. It supports your hips for backbends and forward bends. While doing variations on the abs crunches, the hammock serves as your seat. You can loop the hammock around one foot as you stand on the other for standing exercises and dance-like routines. And if you’re up to a bit of swaying, you can easily wrap your body around the hammock for support.

Most moves used in anti-gravity yoga are variations from:

  • Pilates
  • Calisthenics
  • Dance
  • Yoga
  • Suspension training
  •
With this new exercise trend, you can change your body shape in no time while achieving strength in a longer, leaner and flexible body.

Anti-gravity yoga has become the new celebrity fitness craze. Among the celebrities and famous personalities who have been doing anti-gravity yoga are:

  • Gwyneth Paltrow has been raving about the fun alternative to a low-impact form of exercise.
  • E! News celebrity, Alicia Quarles is Christopher Harrison’s latest anti-gravity yoga fly girl.
  • Joe O’Shea, a famous journalist tries anti-gravity yoga at the Virgin Active Gym in London
  • Eva Mendez says she finds anti-gravity yoga to boost her complexion.
  • Girl group Nine Muses revealed anti-gravity yoga as the secret to their thin and fit bodies.
  • Katie Couric, America’s Sweetheart and funny lady Chelsea Handler are the latest celebrities crazy about anti-gravity yoga.
  • Mariah Carey is a fan of anti-gravity yoga.
  • The cast of Made in Chelsea raves about the new fitness craze.

The reason why this fitness trend has become increasingly popular not just among celebrities but even ordinary people is the fact that it’s a fun way to exercise using different exercise styles. Even the instructors come from different disciplines – some has dance and gymnastics background, while others specializes in Pilates. Additionally, anti-gravity yoga strengthens your core muscles, improves your posture, stability, increases flexibility and enhances joint and spinal movements. Most people who tried anti-gravity yoga find it as a healthy alternative to having a cup of coffee, or going to the cinema. Hence, it’s not surprising that girlfriends in groups troop to the gym to get into the new and popular exercise trend. And why not? They get to become fit while enjoying each other’s company. What can be more fun than that?

What are you waiting for, yoga studios are set and is waiting for your visit. With this new fun and exciting way to stay fit and healthy, who wouldn’t want to try this intriguing core exercise that mixes the likes of pilates, yoga, dance, suspension training, and calisthenics?
